Thank you for purchasing Manual Cam. Your new app allows you to take full control of your iPhone Camera to take even greater photographs.

Quick Start

• Camera begins in full auto mode.
• Press ISO, S (Shutter Speed), WB (White Balance) or Focus to lock. Hold each again to unlock and return to auto. Note : ISO and Shutter speed will lock as a pair as auto exposure controls both.
• Use the wheel or drag up and down on the viewfinder to adjust.
• Press flash to toggle flash modes off, auto or on.
• Triple tap viewfinder for full auto mode.
• Press WB twice for white balance defaults.
• Press Focus twice, then flower to go straight to macro.
• Swipe left or right on viewfinder to change filter (can be disabled in settings).

Exposure Settings

• ISO

  Adjusts the sensitivity or gain of your camera. This makes the picture brighter the higher the value, but it will also introduce more noise and grain. Use in low light or to allow a faster shutter speed and capture fast moving action.

  You can adjust for the range that your camera will support; typical ranges are 30-40 to 700-2100 and this will depend on which iPhone model you have and whether you are using the front or back camera.

• S

  Press to lock/set the Shutter Speed. As this locks exposure, ISO will also lock. The range will depend on your camera model.

• WB

  Adjusting the white balance will change the color temperature of your image. For example, lower values will tend to make your images colder, tinted blue and higher, more orange.

  Pressing WB a second time gives you access to six defaults.

  • Sun - For a bright sunny day.
  • Cloud - for cloudy or overcast.
  • Shade - For areas in the shade.
  • Bulb - For indoors under incandescent or tungsten bulbs.
  • Flash - Balanced for when using the flash.
  • Fluorescent - For indoor under fluorescent lighting.
• Focus

  Pressing the focus button a second time allows you set it straight to macro mode using the flower icon.

• Each setting can also be tweaked without changing modes by directly swiping.

• Flash

  The flash button with toggle between Off, Auto and On.

Settings

Form left to right :

• Filter browser

  Scroll through thumbnails of each filter, press to select. Depending on your iPhone model this will update the thumbnails when you select a new filter. Tap the viewfinder when done.

• Format

  Choose square 1:1 or normal 4:3 aspect ratio.

• Grid

  Press to show/hide a grid overlay on your viewfinder to aid composition.

• Camera

  Toggles between your devices front or back camera.

• Timer

  This can set the camera to take a photo after 2 or 10 seconds after you press the shutter button. The button will show the timer symbol when activated.

More Settings

Viewfinder

• Zoom on Focus

  When set, your viewfinder will automatically zoom whilst focusing to aid accuracy. When using the wheel this will be in the center of your view. Alternatively, using gestures on the viewfinder will zoom to the point of your first touch.

• Take Photo on Long Press

  This will take a photo when you press and hold the viewfinder for half a second. This is useful if pressing the shutter button at times is awkward. Please note that this will not be effected by the timer delay mode and will take the photo straight after the half second.

• Info Level

  Choose how much info you want displayed in your viewfinder. E.g. when set to full the current adjustment value is shown.

• Tap Type

  Choose if a single or double tap on the viewfinder will activate the action below:

• Tap Action

  The action taken when the viewfinder is tapped. Either a single or double tap as chosen above.

  • Focus

    Will auto focus to the point tapped.

  • Return to Auto

    Will return the current camera setting to back automatic.

• Swipe left/right filter change

  Switch on to navigate the live filters upon swiping the viewfinder.

  UI

• UI Mode

  Selects how much camera info is shown. The focus indicator will show a small dot within a circle for far focus and larger for close. On closet focus a macro symbol will be shown.

  • Pro

    Shows all data, the ISO, Shutter Speed in seconds, White Balance in Kelvin and an indicator showing focus.

  • Medium

    Shows detail on the currently selected setting only.

  • Minimal

    No data will be shown, although you can get an indication of values from the wheel.

• Color

  Choose what color you wish for your user interface. The black color is of high contrast and can be better when shooting in bright sunlight. However the grey is low contrast and distracts less from your viewfinder when in normal or low light.

• Controls at Top

  Will place the camera controls at the top of the screen when in portrait mode.

General

• Geotagging

  Stores the location of your photo in the files metadata.
